Imagine - John Lennon
Director Sam Taylor-Wood's new movie, Nowhere Boy about John Lennon's life will start shooting on March. I think this is a good time to call John Lennon and his beautiful works to mind and for a start I can not think a better choice than Imagine. Imagine, most popular song and also same named album of John Lennon released in 1971. Lennon dreams a better world without religions in his song.

Honestly, I wouldn't want to live in a such sterile, unrealistic, boring world.
No one claims such a pure world. This is the power of art: provoking to think!
But if it was possible, it would not boring as a world full of stereotypical people who go to church every Sunday, learn only from T.V., believe in just what government says.
Utopia. Again, no thank you.
Do you people really think that the world would be a better place without religion?? Religion would be substituted with something else (look at communist Russia) and everything would be exactly the same (or at least very similar). People (i.e. masses) need false comfort, they *want* to believe.
And another thing about that song... Lennon talks like a Christian (believer) idealizing man and the world around him. No wonder he got shot.

when people forget about greed and envy, we`ll get the world of peace and happiness. but while we have guys like you who even don`t want just to try to get a better world, others should forget about their dreams. for a while.
John is "not the only one"
I'm not a big fan of song and lyric but i truly LOVE this masterpiece.
