Romantic Atheism: Poetry and Freethought - Martin Priestman

There is no God!
Nature confirms the faith his death-groan sealed:
The exterminable spirit it contains
Is nature's only God; but human pride
Is skilful to invent most serious names

Priestman's study adds the obvious but still overlooked and unquestionably important feature of atheism, especially as it gets expressed in the discourse of Romantic poetry. By addressing attacks (both oblique and direct) on conventional religion expressed in Romantic poetry, Priestman presents us with a study that is long overdue. Amazon

The Making of the Fittest: DNA and the Ultimate Forensic Record of Evolution - Sean B. Carroll (Audiobook)

Picking up where scientists like Richard Dawkins have left off, Carroll, a professor of genetics at the University of Wisconsin–Madison (Endless Forms Most Beautiful: The New Science of Evo-Devo), has written a fast-paced look at how DNA demonstrates the evolutionary process. Natural selection eliminates harmful changes and embraces beneficial ones, and each change leaves its signature on a species' DNA codes. While searches for the genetic basis for evolution are hardly new, Carroll offers some provocative and convincing evidence. Publishers Weekly

God on Trial (2008)

This BBC drama portrays of a group of Jewish prisoners including a physicist, a glove maker, a law professor, a criminal and two rabbis in Auschwitz. In these terrible conditions and due to inhuman treatments they decide to interrogate the absence of God.

Based on the events in Elie Wiesel's The Trial of God, sometimes it is hard to watch, most of the time offers outstanding performances. Honestly the weakest point is the last lines of the movie.
